Thoughts on President Hu and President Obama

So all week long the big story is the visit of Chinese President Hu to the United States.  There seems to be a fear in America of China developing itself.  It isn't really something I understand and I am not an expert in Chinese History or Government but I really think this fear is overblown.  I believe President Obama really is stepping up to the plate with President Hu's visit.  There are many differences in the style of governement and the way our countries do business and develop relationships with others.  But relationships are very important to the Chinese. In America we get to the point and try to make deals happen quickly and fast.  For the Chinese, deals take time and developing relationships with those involved is extremely vital to ensuring success.  President Obama is really doing America and China a great deal of good by hosting a State Dinner for President Hu and working hard on developing an essential and trusting relationship with the country.  The Chinese would only be a threat against America if it didn't work with America.  By establishing a more trusting relationship for both countries and focusing on common goals and values, the door is going to be opened for America and China to benefit in the long run.  China is developing extremely fast but is not without it's problems.  America is not without it's problems either.  One thing is certain, the more America and China work together on issues they both value, the more willing China will be in the future to deal with issues such as human rights, freedom of speech, etc...  Not moving forward with China because of things in the past really would be the worst thing for both countries and for many others.  I have to applaud President Obama and President Hu for their efforts this week.
